Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pre-Procedure Phase II in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit. This full-time daytime role offers early morning hours (5:00a-1:30p or 5:30a-2p) with no on-call requirement and a weekend rotation schedule on a rotating basis.
The ASU sits adjacent to the OR and PACU, featuring a 28-bed surgery prep unit and a 32-bed outpatient unit for pediatric and adult postoperative care. Mercy emphasizes growth, benefits, and teamwork.
Overview: Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

The Ambulatory Surgery Unit, or ASU, is located on the ground floor of the main hospital adjacent to the Operating Room (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). It consists of a 28- bed surgery prep unit and a 32-bed outpatient unit for pre and postoperative care for pediatric patients and adult postoperative care.

Under the direct supervision of the ASUNurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:
Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person
Collects the patients' medical history from previous medical records
Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs
Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups.
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Education:Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensure:Current RN license in the state of practice
Experience:Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
Other Skills:Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Education:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Certifications:ACLS and PALS
