AdventHealth in Hendersonville, North Carolina, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join the PACU team. You will assess patients upon arrival and continuously monitor recovery, contributing to safe, efficient post-anesthesia care.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred), an active RN license, and 1+ year in surgical, ICU, or PACU settings, with BLS and ACLS/PALS as applicable. This role offers full-time hours, day shift, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing or higher required.
• 1+ year RN experience in surgical/ICU or PACU preferred.
• Active RN license and BLS required; ACLS PALS preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assess patient status upon arrival to PACU and monitor vitals, oxygenation, dressings, drains, and heart rhythms.
• Recognize life-threatening changes and respond per PACU protocol.
• Document actions and communicate with anesthesia, head nurse, charge nurse, or surgeon.
• Implement plan of care to return patient to outpatient area or surgical floor.
• Administer medications safely and observe patient responses in EMR.
• Maintain clean, safe PACU environment and ensure accurate handoffs.

Job Description:

• Assesses patient status upon arrival to the PACU and performs ongoing assessments, including respiratory status, O2 saturation, vital signs, dressings, output from foley and drains, and heart rhythms.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to life-threatening situations according to PACU protocol.
• Identifies significant changes in patient's condition, reports to anesthesia/head nurse/charge nurse or surgeon, and documents all appropriate actions.
• Implements the plan of care to assist the patient in returning to the outpatient area or surgical floor unit.
• Administers medications competently in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
• Observes, documents, and reports patients' responses to medications and nursing care in the EMR.
• Communicates accurate and thorough patient information upon relinquishing care to other healthcare workers.
• Participates as an effective member of the patient care team to facilitate the efficient operation of the PACU.
• Delegates responsibilities to others based on their roles, knowledge, and capabilities.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked nursing unit free of safety hazards by the end of the shift.
• Monitors the Electronic Medical Record for new physician orders and diagnostic results.
• Performs all duties relating to Real Time Scanning accurately and efficiently.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
