Purpose and Scope

Supports the organization mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the organization compliance program, including all regulatory and policy requirements.

Provides direct nursing care before, during, and after procedures under the supervision of the Facility Manager, Director of Nursing, and/or Charge RN, utilizing standard nursing techniques to assist physicians in achieving optimal patient outcomes following facility policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Quality
  • Supports and drives organization quality standards by meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements and practicing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including the use of CQI tools.
  • Assists in implementing quality goals and facility-specific action plans to meet organization standards.
  • Ensures outstanding quality of patient care aligned with quality goals and policies.
  • Addresses adverse events and action thresholds collaboratively with management.
  • Maintains integrity of medical and administrative records.
  • Participates in data collection and auditing activities.
  • Ensures environment safety and integrity.
Patient
  • Obtains medical history, discusses procedures, and performs nursing assessments on the day of the procedure.
  • Provides education on post-procedure care of vascular access.
  • Monitors patient condition before, during, and after procedures, especially those involving sedation or contrast media.
  • Addresses patient concerns and questions.
  • Documents patient information accurately from admission to discharge.
  • Verifies and documents orders, consents, and lab results per policy.
  • Prepares lab requisitions, reports, and forwards results appropriately.
  • Maintains competency in emergency procedures, including CPR and emergency measures.
  • Administers medications and IV moderate sedation as directed, complying with all regulations.
  • Assists physicians during procedures, maintaining sterile technique.
  • Transport patients as needed to support workflow.
  • Performs point-of-care testing and IV insertions as ordered.
Physicians
  • Communicates effectively with physicians as needed.
  • Participates in CQI meetings and reports on topics.
  • Assists with equipment verification and adverse event reporting.
Maintenance/Technical
  • Operates and inspects facility equipment and systems, reports malfunctions.
  • Ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary environment, addressing blood spills per policy.
Administrative
  • Manages medication, supply, and inventory efficiently.
  • Assists in policy development and CQI activities.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and participates in regulatory surveys.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and other standards.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Includes desk work, patient interaction, lifting, and moving patients/equipment.
  • Requires prolonged standing, bending, and occasional assistance with heavy patients or equipment.
  • Work environment typical of healthcare facilities, with potential exposure to infectious materials and radiation.
Education
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree desirable; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN).
  • Current licensure and ACLS certification required.
Experience and Skills
