Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an experienced RN for the PACU at Euclid Hospital. You will provide direct nursing care to post‑surgical patients, monitor pain and vitals, and maintain accurate patient records in a fast‑paced PACU setting.

Relocation and loan repayment benefits are available, with a schedule from early morning to late afternoon and no weekends or holidays. RN licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to post-surgical patients in PACU.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans and record patient status.
• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions and responses to treatment.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per protocol.
• Educate patients and families, coordinate discharge needs.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders and ensure safety.

The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit’s (PACU) team of caregivers atEuclidHospital pride themselves on providing top-quality and patient-centeredcare allwhile ensuring the safety of their patients. As an RN in the PACU, you will provide direct nursing care to diverse populations of post-surgical patients waiting for their anesthesia to wear off. This includes monitoringpatient’shealth, assessingpatient’spain levels, administering medication, andmaintainingup-to-date patient records.

A caregiver in this position works days from 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. No weekends or holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans.

• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
• Pre and post op/PACU experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
