RN-Operating Room Nurse Residency Program-August 2025

Join to apply for the RN-Operating Room Nurse Residency Program-August 2025 role at Smilow Cancer Hospital

Program begins on 8/25/2025 and lasts approximately six to ten months, designed to prepare registered nurses for perioperative nursing roles.

This structured program includes online didactic content, skills labs, and clinical preceptorships across various service lines, culminating in a full immersion into clinical rotations and independent practice readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Follow ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Adhere to ANA Standards of Professional Performance, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, and evidence-based practice.
Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.

Experience: All RNs encouraged to advance through the SPIRE program. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged.

Licensure: Current RN license in Connecticut.

Additional Details

The program is a comprehensive, blended learning experience with online modules, skills labs, and clinical rotations across multiple service lines. After successful completion, nurses transition into a 40-hour position with varied shifts.

Hours during training may include evenings, nights, and weekends.
