Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Registered Nurse with PACU experience for a 0.6 FTE position in Cambridge, MN. The role features 12-hour day/evening shifts and weekly call shifts per the MNA contract, with occasional weekends.

You will assess and plan patient care, monitor recovery from anesthesia, and collaborate with anesthesia to ensure patient safety. MN RN licensure and ACLS/ALS or in-house ACLS within 60 days are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in nursing.
  • Minimum 2-3 years PACU experience with recent practice.
  • Nurse licensed in MN or WI upon hire.
  • Current ACLS/ALS or in-house ACLS within 60 days; CPAN/CAPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient and family assessments; establish outcomes and plan of care.
  • Maintain education and competencies to provide high quality patient care.
  • Apply evidence-based nursing practice respecting current statutes, rules and regulations.
  • Establish measurable patient outcomes with input from patient and family.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and delegate to ensure safe, effective care.
  • Fulfill all organizational requirements.
  • Charge Nurse when acting in this role; Preceptor when acting in this role.

Job Description

Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs. Works with patients that are undergoing or recovering from anesthesia or sedation monitoring closely for complications and ensuring the optimal safety and comfort of patients under anesthesia.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
  • Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.
  • Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
  • Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
  • Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
  • Fulfills all organizational requirements.
Supplemental Roles
  • Charge Nurse (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines.
  • Preceptor (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Vocational degree
  • Minimum 2-3 years of pre/post PACU experience with current experience within the past year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
Licenses/Certifications

Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required if working in state of MN upon hire / WI Department of Safety & Professional Services required if working in the state of WI upon hire

Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:

  • Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current ALS certification from the American Red Cross
  • Allina in-house ACLS training (within 60 days of hire)

Additional certifications may be needed at certain sites:

  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) is required within 180 days of hire CPAN American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification preferred CAPA American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification preferred
Physical Demands

Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range
  • Pay Range: $42.92 to $71.47 per hour. The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work. Allina Health is committed to adhering with all applicable local, state and federal minimum wage requirements.
