Work Details

  • Full-time, 37.50 hours/week, generally scheduled M-F, between 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays/recess. Flexible scheduling during Flu Clinics and possible rotation to other departments such as Acute Care.
  • Work Location: Central Campus, 55 Lock Street, New Haven, CT 06511
  • Work Model: On-site

Position Focus

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the RN oversees daily operations of the Pediatric Clinic, ensuring safe patient care and adherence to clinical standards. Responsibilities include managing patient calls, providing care and treatment per clinician’s orders, performing procedures, and maintaining vaccine stock. May support other clinics as needed.

Essential Duties

  1. Deliver high-quality, individualized care using the nursing process.
  2. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support patient outcomes.
  3. Delegate responsibilities appropriately to team members.
  4. Contribute to a positive work environment and adapt to change.
  5. Respect and recognize cultural and human diversity among staff and patients.
  6. Complete competency-based orientation timely.
  7. Identify learning needs and set professional goals.
  8. Ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
  9. Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff.
  10. Use resources fiscally responsibly.
  11. Comply with healthcare regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, licensed and registered in Connecticut.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience in ambulatory or inpatient pediatric care, with assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Organizational skills for managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years pediatric experience, triage skills, proficiency in Epic.

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN licensure in Connecticut.

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Prolonged standing, walking, and patient handling.
  • Keyboard use and computer work.
  • Pre-employment health screening and background checks required.
  • Compliance with university health and vaccination policies.
