Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric ICU on a seasonal basis. The role focuses on critically ill pediatric patients, delivering evidence-based, family-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

You will organize and modify the care plan, collaborate with the care team, and participate in PICU initiatives to improve outcomes. This position emphasizes safety and high-quality pediatric care across neonates to young adults.

Qualifications

• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• RN Registered Nurse must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Associate Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Must have the ability to communicate and care for the pediatric patient.
• Apply scientific knowledge; use a variety of equipment; and perform multiple technical procedures.
• Proactively advocate for patients and consistently educate patients/family throughout the continuum of care.
• Utilize ability to demonstrate and apply the technical, critical thinking and interpersonal skill

Program Requirements

• All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.


• Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.


• Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.


• During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).


• Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.


• Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)


• Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.


• Current FT/PT & PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2026--27


• Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.


• Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.
