Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking an experienced RN for the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU to influence patient care through collaborative management and participation in hospital councils and national nursing initiatives.

The ideal candidate will provide direct care for critically ill CHD cases, organize individualized care plans, and support patient and family education while advancing nursing practice.

Qualifications

  • ACLS within 6 months of employment start date.
  • BCLS within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Congenital Heart Experience and/or high-acuity PICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the Nurse Practice Act for critically ill children with CHD or post-surgical needs.
  • Organize, implement, evaluate and document individualized, family-centered plans of care.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for pediatric patients.
  • Participate in CHSU initiatives and process improvement activities.
  • Deliver high-quality age-specific care across neonatal to young adult populations.
  • Support the organization’s mission, vision and values.
  • Apply scientific knowledge and perform technical procedures with equipment.
  • Advocate for patients and educate patients/families across the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and strong interpersonal skills.

You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Job Summary And Qualification
  • Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the critically ill patient with Congenital Heart Disease and/or Surgery.
  • Organize, implement, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care. This plan will be individualized, family centered, and holistic.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Participate in CHSU initiatives and process improvement.
  • Maintain high-quality age specific care for the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and young adult population.
  • Support the mission, vision and values of the organization
  • Apply scientific knowledge; use a variety of equipment; and perform multiple technical procedures.
  • Proactively advocate for patients and consistency educate patients/family throughout the continuum of care.
  • Utilize ability to demonstrate and apply the technical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
What Qualifications You Will Need
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • If hired after 6/1/12, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
  • Congenital Heart Experience and/or high-acuity PICU medical-surgical experience preferred.
