Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Provides leadership by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing care activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community services regarding discharge planning.
• Assesses and provides teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Utilizes resources to provide quality, cost effective patient care.
• Maintains credentialing standards and completes required safety education.
• Acts as a role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced personnel.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibility for the patient care unit.
