Responsibilities

• Assess patients, develop plans of care, evaluate effectiveness using nursing process.

• Administer medications and IV therapy safely.

Auto‑offer EPIC backfill, night shift, 40 hours, 10‑hour shift; EPIC experience is required.

Unit Details: Total Bed Count: 7 pre‑op, 8 PACU, holding 3. Staffing Ratios: 2:1. Schedule Requirements: Call Required: Weekdays 21:00–07:00. Float Required: No. Weekend Coverage: 07:00–07:00. Scheduling Type: Block. Medication System: Pyxis. Documentation System: Cerner. Communication: SBAR. IV Teams: Operational hours. Lift Teams: Operational hours. Pharmacy: 24 hrs. Phlebotomy: Operational hours. Transportation: Operational hours. Unit Secretary: 06:00–18:30.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred.
• Acute care facility experience – Preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice – Required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS or HS‑BLS or RQIBLS) certification – Required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS or HS‑ACLS or RQIACLS); demonstrated competency in dysrhythmia during orientation – Required.
• PACS/SDS: PALS certification within 1 year of hire; IV sedation within 6 months of hire – Required.
• Facility‑specific certifications (BLS, ACLS) – Required.

Essential Functions

• Utilize the nursing process to assess patients, develop individualized plans of care, and evaluate effectiveness.
• Modify care plans as necessary, considering age‑specific, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to formulate comprehensive care plans.
• Apply knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages to patient care.
• Use pharmacology knowledge to prepare and administer medications and IV therapy safely.
• Provide patient/family education throughout care phases; assess learning and adapt techniques.
• Respond to emergency situations following established protocols.
• Oversee care delivery, correct errors to ensure patient safety.
• Report observations, reactions, and problems in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate responsibility for problem‑solving and clinical decision‑making.
• Ensure continuity of care by promptly following through on physician orders and treatment plans.
• Prioritize patient care tasks and respond to workload changes.
• Advocate for patient rights and intervene when necessary.
• Delegate appropriately to CNAs and student nurses based on clinical competence.
• Practice registered nursing according to the California Nurse Practice Act.
• Maintain professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice awareness.
• Use effective communication skills with patients, families, staff, physicians, and coworkers.
• Document assessments, interventions, and care for all assigned patients.
• Perform technical aspects of patient care in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Administer medications and IVs with consideration of age‑specific needs.
• Perform emergency procedures such as CPR and assess patient response.
• Use equipment safely, including electric beds, infusion pumps, mechanical lifts, suction devices, monitors, etc.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
