Job Summary and Qualifications

Daily assignment of an RN may include supervision of other nursing personnel and/or students. Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the post-anesthesia care patients/surgical service.

What you will do in this role:
  • Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic PACU environment.
  • Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual PACU patients.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process.
  • Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care.
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver.
  • Participate in surgical services specific initiatives and process improvement.
  • Promote a supportive PACU environment.
  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care techs, student nurses and/or nurse externs.
  • Maintain high quality (age specific) care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assigned.
  • Support the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Provides immediate post-surgical care of patients who have had general anesthesia, epidural/spinal anesthesia and IV sedation.
  • Monitors all patients for airway and pain management.
  • Proficient in interpretation of EKG changes, lab values and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Provides post anesthesia care to patients receiving high-risk intravenous therapies and blood components.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Two years of acute care nursing experience is required.
  • Minimum of two years of critical care experience is required.
  • Spine/joint and heart experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse in the state of Texas or acute care license.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

We offer complex spine surgery and minimally invasive surgical options.
