Job summary

Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a specialized PACU nurse to provide care to patients recovering from surgery and anesthesia in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. You will closely monitor recovery, manage pain and complications, and ensure safe stabilization before transfer or discharge.

Qualifications include an active RN license, an Associate’s or BSN in nursing, and 1–2 years of PACU or critical care experience. BLS/ACLS are required, with PALS or CPAN/CAPA preferred as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery.
• Monitor vitals, respiratory status, heart rhythm, consciousness, and pain.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, oxygen, and treatments safely.
• Recognize and respond to airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, and other post-operative complications.
• Manage pain, nausea, and other recovery-related symptoms.
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, and healthcare team to coordinate care.
• Determine readiness for transfer or discharge.
• Maintain documentation and follow infection control and patient safety standards.

Education & Experience

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

1–2 years of PACU, perioperative, ICU, or critical care nursing experience preferred.

Experience caring for post-operative patients and managing recovery from anesthesia is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

BLS certification required.

ACLS certification required.

PALS certification preferred or required based on patient population.

CPAN or CAPA certification preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and continuously monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery.

Monitor vital signs, respiratory status, cardiac rhythms, level of consciousness, and pain.

Administer medications, IV therapy, oxygen, and other prescribed treatments safely.

Recognize and respond promptly to airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, and other post-operative complications.

Manage pain, nausea, and other recovery-related symptoms.

Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.

Determine readiness for transfer or discharge according to established recovery criteria.

Maintain accurate documentation and follow infection control and patient safety standards.
