GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and accountable for the quality of care provided.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
- Contribute to team success through role modeling and mentoring.
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
- Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
- Offer verbal and written feedback on clinical practice and performance.
- Share knowledge and skills with colleagues.
- Accept mistakes and foster a culture of safe risk-taking.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team evaluations of clinical care and health services.
- Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
- Engage in department-specific quality initiatives and ensure appropriate order set usage.
- Supervise and evaluate delegated LPN scope of practice.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs, involving patients and families.
- Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes with input from patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Analyze health status data to determine patient care needs.
- Assess changes in patient condition, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene appropriately, and document findings.
- Accept assignments outside primary units within individual competencies.
- Commit to ongoing learning for self and others.
- Participate in professional organizations and stay updated with current research and evidence-based practices.
- Engage in peer review and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for professional growth.
- Adhere to time and attendance policies.
- Continuously evaluate patient and family satisfaction and participate in related initiatives.
- Promote compassionate, patient- and family-centered communication.
- Address and resolve patient/family concerns effectively.
- Manage time efficiently to complete duties within shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
- Current PA RN license or multi-state license via eNLC
- CPR certification
