GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and accountable for the quality of care provided.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
  2. Contribute to team success through role modeling and mentoring.
  3. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  4. Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  5. Offer verbal and written feedback on clinical practice and performance.
  6. Share knowledge and skills with colleagues.
  7. Accept mistakes and foster a culture of safe risk-taking.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary team evaluations of clinical care and health services.
  9. Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
  10. Engage in department-specific quality initiatives and ensure appropriate order set usage.
  11. Supervise and evaluate delegated LPN scope of practice.
  12. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs, involving patients and families.
  13. Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes with input from patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  14. Analyze health status data to determine patient care needs.
  15. Assess changes in patient condition, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene appropriately, and document findings.
  16. Accept assignments outside primary units within individual competencies.
  17. Commit to ongoing learning for self and others.
  18. Participate in professional organizations and stay updated with current research and evidence-based practices.
  19. Engage in peer review and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for professional growth.
  20. Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  21. Continuously evaluate patient and family satisfaction and participate in related initiatives.
  22. Promote compassionate, patient- and family-centered communication.
  23. Address and resolve patient/family concerns effectively.
  24. Manage time efficiently to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Current PA RN license or multi-state license via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification
