GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care is provided in an outpatient setting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide transformational leadership in a professional practice setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
  • Contribute to team building through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  • Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback to peers on clinical practice and performance.
  • Share knowledge and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Accept mistakes constructively, promoting a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, resiliency, and adaptability.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate care and health services.
  • Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, ensuring appropriate order set use.
  • Supervise and evaluate LPNs within their scope of practice.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs, involving patients and families.
  • Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes with patients and providers.
  • Analyze health status data to identify care needs.
  • Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene, and document accordingly.
  • Accept assignments outside primary units within personal competency.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Participate in professional organizations and ongoing education based on current research and evidence.
  • Participate in peer reviews and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  • Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  • Prioritize patient-centered care, continually assessing satisfaction and advocating for patients.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and promote compassionate, family-centered communication.
  • Address and resolve patient and family concerns.
  • Manage time effectively to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Current PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification
