GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The RN is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and accountable for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care is provided in an outpatient setting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide transformational leadership in a professional practice setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
  2. Contribute to team success through role modeling and mentoring.
  3. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  4. Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  5. Provide verbal and written feedback to peers regarding clinical practice and performance.
  6. Share knowledge and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  7. Accept mistakes and promote a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, and resilience.
  8. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care and health services.
  9. Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
  10. Participate in quality initiatives and ensure appropriate use of order sets.
  11. Supervise and evaluate delegated LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
  12. Use the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement individualized patient care plans.
  13. Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  14. Assess health status and compare data to norms to determine care needs.
  15. Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene, and document accordingly.
  16. Accept assignments beyond primary units within individual competency.
  17. Commit to lifelong learning and professional development.
  18. Participate in professional organizations and ongoing education using current research and evidence-based practices.
  19. Engage in peer review and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  20. Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  21. Prioritize patient-centered care, continuously evaluating patient and family satisfaction.
  22. Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and promote compassionate communication.
  23. Address and resolve patient and family concerns effectively.
  24. Manage time effectively to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Current PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification
