GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care is provided in an outpatient setting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide transformational leadership in a professional practice setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
  • Contribute to team success through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  • Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback to peers on clinical practice and role performance.
  • Share knowledge, promote positive work environment, and foster effective communication and collaboration.
  • Accept mistakes, fostering a culture of safe risk-taking, creativity, flexibility, resiliency, and adaptability.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate care and health services.
  • Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Participate in quality initiatives and ensure appropriate use of order sets.
  • Supervise and evaluate LPNs within their scope of practice.
  • Use the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Assess health status, compare data with norms, and determine care needs.
  • Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene, and document appropriately.
  • Accept assignments outside primary units within individual competencies.
  • Commit to lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Participate in professional organizations and ongoing education using current research and evidence-based practice.
  • Engage in peer review and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  • Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  • Center patient and family satisfaction in all care, acting as an advocate.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and promote compassionate, patient-centered communication.
  • Address and resolve patient and family concerns.
  • Manage time effectively to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance
  • Current PA RN license or multi-state license via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification
