Job summary

Rutland Regional Medical Center is seeking an Oncology nurse to deliver specialized nursing services to oncology patients and their families. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to provide life-saving measures as needed.

Requirements include being a graduate of an accredited nursing school, a preferred BSN, and having two years of general nursing experience, with oncology experience being an advantage. A Vermont nursing license and BLS certification are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Licensed in the State of Vermont.

The Oncology nurse provides specialized comprehensive and holistic primary nursing services to oncology patients and their significant others utilizing the professional practice standards established by the Oncology Nursing Society and the American Nurses' Association. Effective communication skills are required. The nurse must be able to institute life saving measures.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
• 2 years general nursing experience required; Oncology nursing experience preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed in the State of Vermont.
• BLS Certification through American Heart Association.
• Unit-specific certifications as required (Oncology, Chemotherapy, Radiation, etc) per specific department operational framework.
• Certification in venous access techniques or willingness to obtain.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Demonstrates working knowledge of Oncology equipment.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of infection control, utilizes aseptic technique and universal precautions 100% of the time.
• Demonstrates safe knowledgeable nursing practice skills at all times based on theory and consistent with policy and procedure.
• Demonstrates moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
