Job summary

Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, OK is seeking a full-time Outpatient Infusion RN. The successful candidate will provide direct nursing care to patients receiving IV therapies, monitor for adverse reactions, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include pre-infusion assessment, administration of IV meds, venous access management (PICC lines, ports), patient education, and coordination with the care team.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Oklahoma in good standing
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) preferred, if applicable

Responsibilities

• Assess patients prior to infusion treatment and review medical history, allergies, medications, and labs.
• Administer IV therapies, blood products, injections, and specialty infusions per physician orders and policies.
• Place and manage peripheral and central venous access devices (PICC lines, ports, CVCs).
• Monitor for adverse reactions during and after infusion treatments and intervene as needed.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, side effects, and at-home care.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, case managers, and the care team to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and ensure regulatory compliance.

Job description

FT- Out Patient Infusion RN. Must have valid RN licensure in the state of Oklahoma in good standing.

The Infusion Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning,implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients receiving infusiontherapies. This position provides direct patient care related to intravenousmedications, blood products, biologic therapies, hydration therapy, antibioticadministration, chemotherapy (if qualified), and other infusion treatmentswhile ensuring patient safety, education, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess patients prior to infusiontreatment, including reviewing medical history, allergies, medications,and laboratory results.


• Administer prescribed intravenoustherapies, medications, blood products, injections, and specialtyinfusions according to physician orders and organizational policies.


• Initiate, access, maintain, anddiscontinue peripheral and central venous access devices, including PICClines, implanted ports, and central venous catheters.


• Monitor patients during and afterinfusion treatments for adverse reactions and intervene appropriately.


• Provide patient and familyeducation regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, home care,and follow-up instructions.


• Collaborate with physicians,pharmacists, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members tocoordinate care.


• Maintain accurate and timelydocumentation in the electronic medical record.


• Ensure compliance with infectionprevention standards, medication safety practices, and applicableregulatory requirements.


• Participate in qualityimprovement initiatives and departmental performance activities.


• Maintain inventory and ensureproper handling and storage of medications and supplies.


• Respond appropriately to medicalemergencies and activate emergency protocols as needed.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited schoolof nursing.


• Bachelor of Science in Nursing(BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Current Registered Nurse (RN)license in the state of Oklahoma in good standing.


• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)certification required.


• Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) certification preferred.


• Desired - Oncology CertifiedNurse (OCN) or Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) preferred, ifapplicable.

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years ofclinical nursing experience preferred.


• Previous infusion therapy,outpatient nursing, oncology, emergency department, or critical careexperience preferred.


• Experience with vascular accessdevices and infusion pump technology preferred.
