The role you’ll contribute:

The Cardiovascular Interventional Laboratory Specialist (CILS) I performs a wide range of technical skills during Cardiovascular, Non-ablation Electrophysiology, or peripheral procedures to ensure efficient, comfortable, and safe examinations. The CILS I is proficient in one of the three standard roles: scrub, circulate, or monitor, in accordance with departmental and hospital policies. Adheres to professional practice standards and actively participates in outstanding customer service, maintaining respectful relationships with all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE appropriately, and perform hand hygiene per standards of care. Prepare patients using aseptic technique as dictated by the procedure. Recognize hazards that may endanger patients and ensure safety regulations are followed.
  • Meet all department-specific competencies annually.
  • Verify orders, facilitate implementation, and communicate with physicians as needed. Perform treatments and administer medications according to policies. Respond appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluate intervention and medication effectiveness.
  • Function within the scope of practice for Cardiovascular Invasive Lab Technologists. Facilitate timely patient throughput.
  • Accurately document each patient's medical record, maintaining its authenticity and security, and follow procedures for amendments.
  • Perform effectively in one of the three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub, x-ray) based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice. Take call as assigned and respond in-hospital as per policy.
  • Proficiently perform diagnostic coronary, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and peripheral procedures.
  • Utilize knowledge to assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Provide training within your competency.
  • May perform waived or non-waived Point of Care Testing, with proper competency documentation if performing non-waived testing.
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes. Document and monitor activities as required. Contribute to department budgeting to ensure a cost-effective, quality environment. Support department quality standards and initiatives.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Education Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy.

Licensure, Certifications, or Registration Requirements:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR certification
  • Current, valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Radiologic Technologist [R.T.(R)].
