Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville is seeking an experienced RN for the Operating Room to influence patient care through collaborative relationships with leadership and participation in hospital councils and nursing initiatives.

You will evaluate patients pre-operatively, educate families, ensure anesthesia and surgical readiness, and uphold universal protocols while collaborating with surgeons, technologists, and nurses to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN license/registration to practice.
• Registered Nurse Diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based perioperative nursing care.
• Collaborate with providers, surgeons and surgical staff as an integral team member.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to safe patient care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout the shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment and follow-up.
