Job Description
The Operating Room Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the operating room's daily operations, ensuring compliance with AORN guidelines, and leading efforts to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) related to turnaround times and first case on-time starts. This role includes regulatory preparedness, TJC and DOH survey readiness, and managing project roll-outs.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all activities within the operating room.
- Lead a collective bargaining department and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide direct patient care in the operating room as necessary.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and compliance readiness activities.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a nursing role, with a preference for Operating Room experience.
- Certification as a CNOR is preferred.
- Experience in an OR leadership position, with trauma experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of current AORN guidelines and evidence-based practice.
- HRO training is a plus.
- Experience with staff scheduling systems such as UKG, Kronos, or Workday.
