Job summary

HUMBLE VASCULAR SURGICAL CENTER INC seeks a Registered Nurse – OR to deliver comprehensive perioperative care in a demanding surgical setting. You will participate in preoperative assessment, intraoperative care, and postoperative recovery, while following nursing standards and patient-rights policies.

The role requires maintaining documentation accuracy, aseptic technique, and strong collaboration with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse License.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Strong knowledge of nursing standards and patient rights.

Responsibilities

• Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care.
• Document patient information legibly and accurately in the medical record.
• Communicate pertinent information to the care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Respond to emergencies and adjust care plans as needed.
• Maintain aseptic technique and proper surgical site identification and marking.
• Support efficient turnover between cases and proper management of blood products when required.

Essential Functions

The delivery of patient care through the framework of the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis and patient outcome) in the preoperative, interoperative and postoperative phases of the surgical patient.

Education / Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Registered Nurse License
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrates current, comprehensive professional knowledge and skills in conformance with recognized nursing standards and department policies including the Patient Bill of Rights and JCAHO regulations, Standards for Nursing Care and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Assesses physiological and psychosocial health status of patient.
• Assesses pain per policy.
• Completes patient history.
• Verbally reports pertinent information to appropriate staff to provide continuity of care.
• Legibly documents information in patient record and signs record using appropriate professional title.
• Assesses level of understanding and expectations of care.
• Identifies desired patient outcomes.
• Establishes nursing diagnosis.
• Establishes patient/family goals that are mutually acceptable.
• Formulates Plan of Care for the patient.

• Demonstrates proper surgical site identification and marking per policy.
