Job summary

St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado, invites applications for an RN Weekend Option. This role supports a high-volume surgical department across 17 suites, with 36 hours per week on three 12-hour shifts (Sat and Sun plus one weekday).

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our RN, Weekend Option, you will assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patients/families to identify and meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs during weekend shifts.

Every day you will promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of patients through the nursing process, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act, all while demonstrating personal accountability for relationship-based care and organizational values.

To be successful in this role, you will be a Registered Nurse with strong clinical assessment and communication skills, adaptability for weekend duties, and a commitment to patient safety and adherence to nursing standards, aligned with our organizational mission and core values.

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data. Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including but not limited to IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
  • Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.
  • Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability.
  • Recognizes the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient’s preferences, values, and needs.

Schedule:36hrs/ week- 3 x 12-hour shifts- Saturday and Sunday plus additional day during the week. TBD with unit manager during interviews.

No Call Required

Weekend Option Commitment & Differential

RN Weekend Option position requires six month commitment to working weekend schedule. $10/hr weekend option differential applies for Saturday and Sunday

Job Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Nursing or by endorsement.
  • One (1) year experience.
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.
  • RN License; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Previous OR experience in a hospital setting highly preferred
Where You'll Work

As a Registered Nurses in the Operating Room at St. Anthony Hospital you will provide direct patient advocacy and clinical support across a high-volume surgical department, which includes 17 suites—featuring a designated trauma room, a hybrid room, a CVOR, and a cystoscopy suite. The facility manages approximately 900-950 cases per month across a wide range of specialties, including General, Ortho (Trauma), Neuro, Spine, Eyes, ENT, GU, Robotics (DaVinci XI/SI), Vascular, Endovascular, Cardiac, and OB/GYN. While there is a specialized team for cardiac and neuro procedures, all other RNs are cross-trained for all remaining surgical services. Daily duties include performing circulating functions, providing intraoperative support such as managing sterile instruments and supplies, facilitating room turnovers, and restocking for subsequent procedures.
