GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families for whom the nurse is responsible. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable for the quality of care delivered.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide transformational leadership in a professional setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
  • Contribute as a team player by mentoring and role modeling.
  • Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  • Maintain a safe environment considering patient condition and intervention complexity.
  • Provide feedback to peers on clinical practice and performance.
  • Share knowledge, promote positive work attitudes, and foster effective communication and collaboration.
  • Accept mistakes and foster a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate care and health services.

  • Supervise and evaluate LPNs within their scope of practice.
  • Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care tailored to individual needs.
  • Develop culturally and age-appropriate outcomes involving patients and families.
  • Assess health status, compare data with norms, and identify care needs.
  • Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians, and document interventions.
  • Accept assignments beyond primary units within competency areas.
  • Commit to lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Participate in professional organizations and ongoing education based on current research.
  • Engage in peer reviews and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  • Adhere to hospital policies regarding time and attendance.
  • Focus on patient and family satisfaction, advocating for their needs.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and promote compassionate communication.
  • Address and resolve patient and family concerns effectively.
  • Manage time efficiently to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Current PA RN license or multi-state licensure via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred

  • Specialty certification
