Job summary

Citizens Health is seeking a registered nurse to join our oncology and IV therapy department on a full-time basis at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas.

The RN will report to the Oncology and IV Therapy Manager, work 7AM–7PM three days per week with alternating weekends, and provide high-quality patient care in a community hospital setting. ACLS/BLS and chemotherapy certification are required or pursued within six months.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Kansas RN license and graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required.
  • Chemotherapy certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
  • Ability to coordinate care with multiple providers and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients in oncology/IV therapy and monitor vitals.
  • Administer cancer treatments and manage treatment side effects.
  • Explain treatments to patients and answer questions.
  • Coordinate patient care with other providers and departments.
  • Support patients' emotional well-being and provide family resources information.

Location: 100 E College Ave, Colby, Ks

Position Information: Citizens Health is looking for a registered nurse to work full-time in the oncology and IV therapy department at Citizens Medical Center.

Registered nurse will report to the Oncology and IV Therapy Manager.

Days/Hours: 7AM to 7PM 3 days per week and alternating weekends

Pay Range: Dependent upon degree and experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Assess patients.
  • Administer cancer treatments.
  • Explain the treatments and answering questions for patients.
  • Manage the side effects of cancer treatments and helping manage pain.
  • Monitor vitals of patients.
  • Coordinate the patient’s care with all other providers.
  • Support the emotional well-being of patients.
  • Provide information on resources for family members.
  • Maintain strict HIPAA, HPI and Confidentiality.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Kansas Board of Nursing.
  • Successful completion of Citizens Medical Center’s nursing orientation program specific to that unit prior to responsibility for patient care. General hospital orientation completed.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Chemotherapy certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationship with personnel in other departments.
  • Ability to provide direction in application of nursing process, quality improvement standard, organization and departmental goals and objectives, and the State Nurse Practice Act.

Typical Working Conditions:

Work in an air-conditioned environment with a temperature of 65-72 degrees Fahrenheit, and humidity of 45-55%. When assigned to assist with pediatric cases, temperature may be up to 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit. Must wear hospital-provided scrub attire while on duty. Potential for cuts, bruises, muscle strain and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and/or other diseases. Potential for exposure to anesthetic waste gases, harsh disinfectants, sterilizing agents, exposure to high steam pressure and radiologic environment. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires standing, walking, bending, crouching/stooping, and carrying when caring for patients. Requires sitting with repetitive motion of the hand and wrist at desk. Normal vision, with or without correction, which is adequate for reading, and use of computer. Must be able to work closely with physicians, patients, family, and other hospital personnel. Works under stressful conditions and pressure due to demands of procedures and safety of patient. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
