Overview

Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members; and utilizing evidence-based practice. Maintains a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, and participating in team problem-solving methods. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support in accordance with our mission statement. Exemplifies the INURSE values through integrity, nursing excellence, unity, respect, scholarship, and evidence-based practice. Contributes to department operations by maintaining equipment, completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques, and managing nursing supplies inventory to ensure availability and proper use.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  1. Administers medications within the scope of practice and hospital policies.
  2. Assesses, evaluates, interprets, and documents patients' physical and mental status.
  3. Identifies patient care requirements by establishing rapport with patients and significant others, understanding care needs, and resolving patient issues through multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Promotes patient independence by setting care goals, educating patients and families about their condition, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions.
  5. Ensures quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring outcomes against care goals, and making necessary adjustments in line with standards set by regulatory bodies.
  6. Maintains a safe and clean environment by following procedures, calling for support when needed, and adhering to safety policies.
  7. Protects patient confidentiality and maintains operational continuity through proper documentation and communication in the electronic medical record.
  8. Maintains professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, networking, and participating in professional societies.
  9. Completes annual competency and regulatory education.
  10. Contributes to team efforts by achieving results measured by patient satisfaction scores and quality care metrics.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of medical equipment.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to administer medications per policy.
  • Ability to follow safety goals and interpret lab results.
  • Effective communication using SBAR.
  • Multi-tasking ability.
  • Courteous, compassionate attitude supporting organizational values.
  • Clinical skills including infection control, nursing procedures, and physiological knowledge.
  • ED/ICU: ACLS certification; Med/Surg: BLS certification; College Diploma in Nursing required; RN licensure; CPR certification.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • College Diploma in Nursing required.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse.
