Job Summary
Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the MGH/Naka Oncology and Infusion Center as directed by Nursing Leadership. The MGH/Naka Oncology and Infusion Center provides therapy for cancer patients and other patients with a variety of medical conditions requiring intravenous medication therapies. This includes chemotherapy antibiotics, phlebotomy services, blood transfusions, injections and immunizations. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the stated philosophy and standards established by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies and professional organizations. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the safety of nursing care they deliver or supervise. The Registered Nurse is responsible to the patient and the family or significant others for the quality of direct and indirect nursing care delivered.
Minimum Qualifications
§ Education
o Graduate of professional accredited nursing school required.
o Knowledge base of Oncology and Chemotherapy required.
§ Experience
o Previous Medical Surgical experience required.
o Chemotherapy administration experience required.
§ Licensure and/or Certification
o Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
o BLS healthcare provider required.
o Chemotherapy certification required.
o OCN certification preferred
