Job Summary

George Washington University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical/Tele Observation Unit. The Observation Unit is a 20-bed unit with rapid patient turnover and discharges per shift (patients stay for 24 hours or less). The patient population includes cardiac, neurological, medical, and surgical patients. This position offers opportunities for professional growth by teaching in a fast-paced environment similar to an ER while strengthening critical skills in a medical/surgical setting. Ideal candidates are those with strong time management skills who work well in team-paced settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients.
  • Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment, and post-discharge care.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes according to hospital policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure safety standards are met.
