Job summary

Maimonides Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Nurse in the Nursing Psych 6 unit. You will provide direct nursing care under supervision, with a minimum of four shifts per month including two weekends and holiday coverage as required.

Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills are essential. Graduation from an accredited Nursing program is required; NYS RN licensure and current BLS are mandatory, with ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current NYS licensure as RN required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Professional nursing experience appropriate to the service and the position.
• 1 year of Medical/Surgical experience or 1 year of Psych experience REQUIRED.

Overview

Under the general supervision of the Nursing Director or Assistant Nursing Director provides direct nursing care to patients.

Per Diem

You must work a minimum of four shifts monthly, to include two weekend days per month, one summer holiday and one winter holiday.

• * Integrates relevant knowledge and evidence-based practice (utilizing teamwork and collaboration).
• * Provides specialty-specific care as outlined by Maimonides Medical Center.
• * Indicates an Essential Job Function.

• Maintains competencies in individual field of responsibility

• Acts as preceptor for new health care team members
• Utilizes computer systems as they pertain to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy

Qualifications

Performs other related duties as required.

Education

Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing school required; BSN preferred.

Current NYS licensure as RN required.

Experience

Current BLS certification required.

Current ACLS certification preferred.

Professional nursing experience appropriate to the service and the position.
