Below are the job description and minimum requirements:

The Registered Nurse - Float Pool will perform all aspects of direct patient care, including assessment, planning, evaluation, and documentation. RNs will provide direct care based on the care plan and established priorities, evaluating and documenting patient and family responses to nursing interventions and the overall effectiveness of the care plan.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Current Texas license with at least 1 year of recent hospital experience.
  • BLS certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire) and ACLS certification (within 90 days of hire).
  • Handle with Care certification.
  • PALS or ENPC certification, depending on the area worked.
  • TNCC certification may be required depending on the department.

The RN must be scheduled for a minimum of 10-12 hour shifts per 6-week schedule, with at least 4 shifts on weekends. There is no guaranteed number of hours, but RNs will be scheduled for at least 2 holidays per year. RNs must be qualified to accept assignments in at least three hospital areas, including MedSurg and ICU or ED.
