Job Summary

System administrator responsibilities include ensuring that clinical algorithms in system upgrades of existing systems and in implementation of new systems are clinically appropriate and function in a way that optimizes quality of care, patient safety, and cost. This is accomplished by leading and/or working collaboratively with application analysts, IT staff, clinicians, and operational managers in the planning, development, testing, training, implementation and evaluation phases of system upgrades and implementation. The role also involves improving interactions with systems by clinical and non-clinical staff, developing education programs for CNS nursing staff, supporting clinical orientation, and collaborating with leaders on quality and workforce initiatives. Ensuring clinical protocols are current and evidence-based within EMR systems is also a key responsibility.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage system upgrades and implementation, including clinical algorithms, troubleshooting, and vendor collaboration. Optimize clinical decision support tools. Act as liaison between IT and clinical operations. Provide advice on informatics topics and participate in clinical improvement projects. Serve as system administrator for Epic Triage and Dawn AC modules.
  • Develop training curricula to support quality, safety, and practice improvement initiatives. Ensure new nursing staff orientation is completed and monitored. Collaborate on strategies to evaluate clinical orientation and staff performance.
  • Manage clinical guidelines, review protocols, and ensure content is reflected accurately in clinical systems. Maintain clinical standard work documents.
  • Provide clinical oversight and consultation to IT staff on interface design and clinical content decisions.
Experience & Education

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of nursing practice, preferably in ambulatory care.

Education:

  • Master's degree in nursing or clinical informatics.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse License in Washington or a Compact License required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
Additional & Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing nursing educational programs and using clinical information systems.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Clinical expertise in team development, practice, teaching, and adult learning theory.
  • Experience in clinical informatics, including building algorithms, data reporting, and quality assurance.
  • Five years of nursing management experience with clinical informatics preferred.
