Job Summary

System administrator responsibilities include ensuring that clinical algorithms in system upgrades of existing systems and in implementation of new systems are clinically appropriate and function in a way that optimizes quality of care, patient safety, and cost. This is accomplished by leading and/or working collaboratively with application analysts, IT staff, clinicians, and operational managers in the planning, development, testing, training, implementation, and evaluation phases of system upgrades and implementation. The role also involves improving how clinical staff interact with systems, developing education programs, supporting clinical orientation, and collaborating on quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Manage system upgrades and implementation, including clinical algorithms, troubleshooting, and vendor collaboration. Optimize clinical decision support tools and serve as liaison between IT and clinical operations.
  2. Develop curriculum and training to support clinical initiatives, ensure orientation programs are completed, and monitor clinical orientation effectiveness.
  3. Manage clinical guidelines, review protocols, and ensure documentation in clinical systems is current and accurate.
  4. Provide clinical oversight and consultation on informatics-related topics, including interface design and clinical content decisions.
Experience

Minimum two (2) years of nursing practice, preferably in an ambulatory care environment.

Education

Masters degree in nursing or clinical informatics.

License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Nurse License (Washington) required at hire OR Compact License.
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.
Additional Requirements
  • Experience in developing nursing educational programs and clinical operations with information systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, customer orientation, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership, organizational skills, and clinical expertise in team development and adult learning.
  • Experience with clinical algorithms, data reporting, and quality assurance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of nursing management with clinical informatics experience.
