Job summary

Riverwoods Behavioral is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager to assist the DON/CNO with directing and coordinating nursing operations for assigned units. Oversees behavioral health nursing, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to meet patients' needs.

Responsibilities include staffing, budgeting, education, and policy implementation, with a focus on high-quality patient care and service excellence.

Qualifications

  • BSN or higher preferred.
  • Current RN license in the state.
  • Three years as a registered nurse strongly preferred.
  • Two years of registered nursing experience required.
  • One year of prior charge RN or administrative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipates and effectively manage census/acuity changes and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Role models customer service and demonstrates urgency for patient safety.
  • Accountable for standard of care; provides consultations and expertise in care delivery.
  • Serve as a clinical and service resource to nursing staff and other staff.
  • Manage activities of staff and coordinate safe, interdisciplinary care.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring and training of new staff.
  • Identify educational needs and develop training programs.
  • Assist with policies and procedures for the facility.
  • Prepare reports on programs, services and quality initiatives.
  • Plan budgets and authorize expenditures; provide direct patient care as needed.

Overview

Riverwoods Behavioral is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager to assist the DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring and supervising the effective and efficient use of the operations of nursing for assigned units. Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.


Shift Details

3:00P-11:00P


Must be available to cover weekends and holidays as needed

Responsibilities


  • Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed

  • Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety

  • Accountable for the standard of care at the facility, providing consultations and expertise in the delivery of care to patient.

  • Serve as a clinical and service resource to nursing staff and other staff as assigned.

  • Manage the activities of staff, coordinating safe and appropriate care between departments and disciplines.

  • Manage and evaluate work activities of nursing, technical, clerical, service or maintenance staff for the unit, work group and other facility staff as directed.

  • Analyze information/situation to choose the best solution(s) to solve problems.

  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of new staff.

  • Identify the educational needs of others and develop educational or training programs.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures for the facility.

  • Prepare reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services and quality initiatives of the unit.

  • Perform administrative or managerial functions such as planning budgets and authorizing expenditures.

  • Provide direct care as needed.


Other Functions


  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.


Qualifications

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements


  • BSN or higher strongly preferred

  • Current registered nursing license in State of facility required

  • Three years as a registered nurse strongly preferred

  • Two years of registered nursing experience required

  • Two years of prior experience as a registered nursing with patient population of the facility is preferred.

  • One year of prior experience with the population required

  • Prior experience as a house supervisor strongly preferred

  • One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required.


Licenses/Designations/Certifications


  • Current RN license as required by state.

  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
