Radiological Technologist - Urgent Care PRN (Radiology)
  • Facility: Loehmann's Plaza - Health Center and Urgent Care
  • Department: Loehmanns UCC Radiology

The Radiological Technologist – Urgent Care reports to department leadership and, under the direction of a provider/nurse/MLT, supports and assists with clinical and laboratory services to enhance patient flow and satisfaction. Responsibilities include accurately obtaining, documenting, and reporting variances for history, vital signs, EKGs, and growth parameters for developmental stages.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Performs radiologic procedures and examinations under the supervision of radiologists or delegated practitioners to produce diagnostic radiographic studies.
  2. Receives and interprets requests/instructions for radiologic procedures; gains patient cooperation; operates radiographic equipment; records diagnostic imaging results.
  3. Protects patients, self, and others from secondary radiation by following safety protocols.
  4. Maintains knowledge of radiation protection standards, skeletal system anatomy, organ functions, and the physical properties of X-rays and electric circuits to perform procedures effectively.
  5. Provides imaging services using modalities such as conventional x-ray (CR, DR).
  6. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality.
  7. Exercises professional judgment during procedures.
  8. Provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures.
  9. Recognizes conditions requiring immediate action and reports to the provider/radiologist.
  10. Assists with clinical processes supporting nursing and medical care for safe, accurate, and timely patient services.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 2-3 years of pediatric or general x-ray experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles, procedures, and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Analytical skills to determine the best method for radiograph requests, ensuring clear images with minimal radiation exposure.
  • Ability to work as part of a clinical team supporting patient care and flow.
  • CPR certification required, to be obtained and maintained within 45 days of hire.
  • Must provide documentation of completed diploma or academic transcript if performing laboratory or point-of-care testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Work environment includes radiology/imaging areas with rare exposure to unpleasant odors and occasional exposure to infectious agents. Regular radiation exposure is minimized through safety measures such as lead aprons, gloves, shielding devices, and exposure badges. Ability to stand long periods, lift or turn disabled patients, and follow safety protocols is necessary.
