As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role of the RN includes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes. YNHHS nurses operate within a practice model focused on "Achieving outcomes through Autonomy and Accountability." We value Nursing Professional Governance and support practice with evidence and data, always centered on the patient and family.
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program.
Licensure: Must be licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification is highly encouraged.
Prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing, touch. Exposure to infectious diseases, physical, mental, emotional stress, and end-of-life situations. Must assist with patient handling, including lifting patients up to 300 pounds.
