Responsibilities

A professional nurse is responsible for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective, patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit, promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Using the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care, prioritizing patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies their educational and professional experience to deliver quality care and mentor/precept staff. Completion of the RN Credentialing & Privileging Process as outlined in the relevant policy is required.
