Job Responsibilities
- Compliance: Patient Services Staff—Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance of the department and hospital. Monitor safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with managers, nurse council, and magnet representatives to share safety best practices. Communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership.
- Clinical Judgment: Collect clinical data; follow algorithms, decision trees, and protocols. Match formal knowledge with clinical events to make appropriate decisions; use available resources as needed. Document plan of care, care delivered, and patient/family outcomes. Focus on usual and customary needs; anticipate future needs; base care on standards and protocols; maintain a safe environment; acknowledge death as a potential outcome. Integrate age‑specific concepts; develop care goals through partnerships with patients and families. Facilitate patient/family learning with structured education and teach‑back.
- Clinical Inquiry & Performance Review: Follow standards and guidelines; implement research‑based practices. Recognize need for further learning to improve patient care. Identify patient problems and seek help in unusual situations. Use self‑appraisal and peer review, including annual goal setting, to assure competence and professional development. Demonstrate openness to coaching and mentoring; facilitate learning for peers and students.
- Shared Decision‑Making: Receptive to interdisciplinary team contributions. Participate in shared governance at the point of care as unit‑based council member or by reading minutes, giving feedback, and implementing council decisions.
- Interprofessional Practice: Consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model. Advocate, exercise moral agency, and respond to inclusion. Assess personal values; recognize ethical conflicts; represent patients when needed; be aware of patients’ rights and cultural inclusion.
- Patient Care: Consistently integrate age‑specific and culturally inclusive concepts into care, considering patient’s chronological age and developmental functioning.
Job Qualifications
- Associate/Diploma prepared RN from ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited institution; requires 2+ years of experience.
- If hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire and complete within 5 years.
- Preferred: BSN or MSN from ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited institution.
- Active Ohio RN License (other state licensure may be required).
- Foreign graduates must have license validated through TruMerit™ per Ohio Board of Nursing code for foreign graduates.
