Job summary

The NICU RN position within BestChoice, Henry Ford Health System’s staffing resource pool, offers opportunities to float between three Henry Ford hospitals. Nurses provide leadership and coordinate compassionate patient care, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and education for patients and families.

Candidates must hold a Michigan RN license and BLS, bring 24–36 months of NICU experience, and be available for a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month.

Qualifications

• Current license by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA).
• 24–36 months of NICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in coordinating and delivering quality patient care.
• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care and teaching.
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
• Participates in addressing variances from patient goals and implementing solutions.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge and analytical ability to formulate care plans.
• Delivers a wide range of professional nursing services and communicates with patients and staff.

Job description

BestChoice is Henry Ford Health System’s internal staffing resource pool, designed to ensure there is sufficient staffing throughout our health system. BestChoice provides a proactive solution to unplanned or short-term staffing needs due to vacations, unscheduled absences, leave of absences, increases in census or acuity. BestChoice employees are Henry Ford Health System contingent staff and experience the same new employee screening, orientation, education and competency standards, alongside all Henry Ford Health System team members.

Position requires a minimum of two 12 hour shifts/month

The NICU RN will be responsible for the following:

• Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care
• Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team
• Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

Current license by the Michigan State Board of Nursing

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA)

• 24 - 36 months of recent experience working in a NICU
