UNC Youth Behavioral Health Facility is hiring New Grad Nurses to join our team!
Seeking nursing graduates to start Fall 2025
To qualify for the UNC Medical Center (YBH is part of UNC Medical Center) New Graduate Residency program, candidates must be in their final semester of nursing school or have graduated within the past 12 months of the start date, and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. The program supports the transition from academia to practice and provides mentored clinical relationships. Applicants must pass the NCLEX exam and be licensed RNs before starting employment.
We seek a New Graduate RN to work on a multidisciplinary team, primarily on the New Day Unit, a 14-bed unit for adolescent and young adult patients in crisis with various mental health diagnoses.
Youth Behavioral Health Hospital (YBH) is a 54-bed, 24-hour, locked psychiatric facility in Butner, North Carolina. It emphasizes a trauma-informed, milieu-based, therapeutic setting, serving patients with complex histories, including aggression and psychosis. Safety, positive coping skills, healthy living, and leisure activities are central. The team includes Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Nursing Services. The facility has four units for children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral diagnoses, including dual diagnoses, substance misuse, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. Staff are cross-trained across units as one team.
The position offers 36 hours per week, with 12-hour day shifts, and full benefits. It qualifies for the UNC Hospitals New Grad RN Incentive Program, offering up to $15,000 commitment incentive or $25,000 tuition loan forgiveness, plus up to $10,000 in relocation assistance depending on the location.
