UNC Youth Behavioral Health Facility is hiring New Grad Nurses to join our team! We are seeking nursing graduates to start in Fall 2025.
To qualify for the UNC Medical Center (YBH is part of UNC Medical Center) New Graduate Residency program, candidates must be in their final semester of nursing school or have graduated within the past 12 months of the start date, with less than 6 months of RN work experience. The program supports the transition from academia to practice and offers mentored clinical relationships to develop as a professional nurse. Applicants must pass the NCLEX exam and be licensed as an RN before employment begins.
We are looking for a New Graduate RN to work on a multidisciplinary team, primarily on Dogwood Unit, a 16-bed unit for adolescents in crisis with various mental health diagnoses.
YBH is a 54-bed, 24-hour, locked psychiatric facility located in Butner, North Carolina. It emphasizes a trauma-informed, milieu-based, therapeutic environment, serving patients with complex histories, including aggression and psychosis. Safety, positive coping skills, healthy living, and leisure activities are core to care. The interdisciplinary team includes Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Nursing staff. There are four units dedicated to children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses, dual diagnoses, substance misuse, and complex behaviors, including Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Staff are cross-trained across these units as one team.
The position offers 36 hours per week, 12-hour day shifts, with full benefits. It qualifies for the UNC Hospitals New Grad RN Incentive Program, offering up to $15,000 commitment incentive or $25,000 in tuition loan forgiveness, plus up to $10,000 in relocation assistance, depending on location. The Clinical Nurse provides competent, professional nursing care aligned with standards, reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director. Responsibilities include coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Education: Graduation from a nursing program; enrollment in a BSN or MSN program within four years if hired after Jan 6, 2014, with completion within seven years.
Licensure/Certification: North Carolina RN license and BLS certification required.
Experience: No prior experience required.
