The Transplant Acute Care Unit is a 15-bed unit dedicated to caring for patients who require abdominal organ transplantation. Each year, we perform over 125 kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants. Care is also provided to medicine patients awaiting transplantation, providing a comprehensive experience from pre- to post-transplantation.

Our program is certified by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and is highly regarded regionally. The Kidney Transplant Team was recently named number one in the U.S. for one-year survival rates. We focus on improving outcomes through education, research, and clinical practice.

In addition to transplantation, we partner in surgical urology care, leading North Carolina in robotic surgery and cancer care. We also manage complex wound care for high-risk plastic surgery patients.
