Job summary

Essentia Health is a Level 1 Trauma center providing care for neurotrauma and neurologic patients. The RN Neurotrauma role involves organizing care through the nursing process, delegating to staff, and meeting Joint Commission requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Expect to work in Neuroscience with extensive stroke education, and be part of a mission-driven team at Essentia Health.

Qualifications

• Proficient use of NIHSS stroke scale for patient assessment.
• Ability to organize and deliver nursing care using nursing process (assess, plan, intervene, evaluate).
• Ability to delegate tasks to licensed staff per licensure and job descriptions.

Responsibilities

• Care for neuro trauma and neurologic patients in a Level 1 Trauma center.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care during neurotrauma and spinal/brain injury cases.
• Actively participate in stroke education and multidisciplinary team rounds.

Job Description:

In Neuroscience you will care for a wide variety of patients with care needs in relation to neuro trauma and neurologic issues.

Essentia Health is a Level 1 Trauma center and Thrombectomy Certified Stroke Center.

You will work in a valued/strong based team in a fast paced environment.

In neuroscience you will receive extensive stroke education and also learn to care for patients with spine and brain injuries.

You will frequently use the NIHSS stroke scale for assessment of patients and help patients with swallowing issues and dysphasia screening.

You will be responsible for organizing and providing care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

You will delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel based upon their licensure, preparation, and job descriptions.

You will contribute to the meeting of the mission and goals of the facility and Essentia, and meet the requirements of the Joint Commission if applicable and/or other federal, state, and local regulatory or accrediting agencies.

Education Qualifications:

BSN or ADN degree from an accredited school or college of nursing

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:

• Current nursing licensure in Minnesota
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within1 month from date of hire
