Unit Description:

6D is an intermediate ICU, also called a Progressive Care Unit. It includes a 16-bed fully monitored unit providing high acuity care to critically ill post-operative traumas, stroke patients, and medical overflow. Common therapies include lumbar drain management, external ventricular drain management, antidysrhythmic/calcium channel blocking drips, low dose vasopressors, Bipap and high flow oxygen systems, insulin drips, and precedex. 6D collaborates closely with Cardiovascular PCU, offering cross-training opportunities. It is part of the Critical Care Cluster, which encompasses all ICUs and PCUs.

6D offers the chance to deliver compassionate, team-oriented, and fulfilling care. Learning opportunities are abundant, with dedicated mentoring. Career path programs are available for transitioning into ICU units within 18 months.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
  • Licensure: Must obtain and maintain a current RN license within the hiring state or through compact licensure, meeting all state board requirements
  • Physical Demands:
    • Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds regularly
    • Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
    • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion within 30 days of hire
