GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
  2. Contribute to team success through role modeling and mentoring.
  3. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels.
  4. Maintain a safe environment and consider patient condition and intervention complexity.
  5. Provide feedback to peers on clinical practice and performance.
  6. Share knowledge and skills with colleagues.
  7. Accept mistakes and foster a culture of safe risk-taking.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary teams to evaluate care and health services.
  9. Promote patient safety initiatives and participate in quality improvement projects.
  10. Supervise and evaluate LPNs as appropriate.
  11. Use the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care.
  12. Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients and families.
  13. Assess health status and determine care needs.
  14. Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians, and document interventions.
  15. Accept assignments outside primary units within individual competencies.
  16. Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
  17. Participate in professional organizations and continuous education.
  18. Conduct peer reviews and seek feedback to improve practice.
  19. Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  20. Evaluate patient and family satisfaction and participate in related initiatives.
  21. Communicate compassionately and address concerns effectively.
  22. Manage time efficiently to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Current PA RN license or multi-state license via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification
