Job summary

Medical City Lewisville is seeking an experienced Staff RN to provide direct nursing care in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team. You will assess needs, plan interventions and evaluate outcomes, while supervising LVN and non-licensed staff as a charge nurse.

The role requires an RN license, an associate degree, BLS and additional certifications like NRP and STABLE. 1+ year hospital experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing.
• BLS/CPR or equivalent cert within 30 days of start date.
• NRP and STABLE certs within defined timeframes.
• Associate degree in nursing; BSN preferred.
• 1+ year hospital nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Assess nursing care needs, plan interventions and evaluate outcomes.
• Supervise LVN and other non-licensed staff as applicable.
• Fulfill charge nurse duties: assign patients and coordinate unit activities.

Education

RN license (Texas)

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Job description

Under general supervision the Staff RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Medical City Lewisville. In collaboration with patient, patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN is responsible for assessing the nursing care needs of patients, planning interventions and evaluating outcomes of care. The RN provides direct care and/or supervises nursing care of LVN’s and non-licensed nursing staff. The RN is responsible for providing care consistent with the Nursing Department’s policies, procedures and standards of practice.

RN’s are responsible for providing care, which is appropriate to the age specific (adolescent, adult and geriatric patients), developmental and safety needs of the assigned patient population. In addition to the RN duties and responsibilities, the RN scope includes charge duties. The charge nurse makes patient assignments and supervises and directs the staff and unit activities for the assigned shift.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• STABLE must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree Required
• BSN Preferred
• 1+ years experience in a hospital setting required
