Job description

LOCATION: BAYLOR SCOTT & WHITE MEDICAL CENTER, MARBLE FALLS, TX

DEPT: MEDICAL SURGICAL

SCHEDULE: FULL TIME NIGHTS

BONUS: $10,000

We serve orthopedic patients (hips/knees), general surgery, geriatric, and general med/surg patients. We are a 30 bed med/surg unit. We staff our patient 1:5 with Registered Nurses and 1:10 with PCTs during the dayshift and PCTs increase to 1:15 during the night. We have 100% private rooms with decentralized supplies on each wing. We staff a FT Charge Nurse without an assignment to assist staff with care. We have a FT Patient Care Liaison to assist with patient experience as well. We strive for a climate of collaboration and teamwork. We fully support UPC decision making and embrace positive change. We have a well-seasoned team with a perfect blend of new nurses balanced by tenure and experienced teammates. We have a very engaged leadership structure with a supervisor as well as a full complement of Charge Nurses capable of immediately supporting any needs during the transition period.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions of the Role

  1. As an RN, conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  2. Building relationships, managing discomfort, and staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  3. Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues.
  4. You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  5. Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  6. You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  7. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, showing community service commitment.

Key Success Factors

  1. A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  2. Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules.
  3. Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  4. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  5. Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  6. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  7. Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  8. Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications

  1. Grad of an Accredited Program
  2. Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  3. RN license.
