Job summary

Mercy is seeking a registered nurse to provide patient care on the Medical Surgical unit using the nursing process and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The role emphasizes safety, accountability, confidentiality, and patient rights within a 32-bed Med-Surg setting.

You will collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive care across diverse medical and surgical conditions, while upholding Mercy Service Standards and mission.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited school.
• Current RN license in state and/or compact licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintain professional accountability for care of assigned patients.

Position Details

Find your calling at Mercy! Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. The Medical Surgical unit, also known as Med-Surg, is a specialty unit that makes up the foundation of nursing. The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Pittsburg is a 32-bed unit that manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, this unit houses and cares for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. Given the generalized nature of the Med-Surg unit and the amount of variation in patient conditions, the acuity of patients vary.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school License: current RN license in our state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
