Job Overview
Join our Medicine Specialty Unit, where you can enhance your nursing skills in a collaborative environment with the same team and leadership, working with both Step Down and Medical beds. This unit focuses on complex patients with multifaceted disease processes and is part of the largest service line in the hospital system.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments; track changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data; observe patient manifestations and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medications as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently and compassionately.
- Interact with patients and families to share care plans during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
- Refer patient care needs to appropriate personnel as necessary.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved nursing school.
- Experience: N/A
Licensure/Certifications
- Valid temporary or permanent RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing prior to entrance on duty (permanent license must be obtained within 3 months of appointment).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong understanding of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Capable of responding effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Basic computer skills.
