Job Description

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with scope and standards of practice.
• Performs care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care accurately.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists with activities of daily living such as hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines for patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and psychosocial support.
• Provides patient and family education tailored to age, culture, and condition.
• Acts as an advocate for the patient's physical and emotional well-being.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including duties of CNA, MA, or LPN when necessary.
• Participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings, projects, and committees.
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
• Works scheduled shifts, including overtime and call schedules.
• Maintains professional appearance per dress code.
• Handles occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens responsibly.
• Reports to the Director of Med Surg.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education: Associate's degree required.
• Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and stress management.
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Licenses: Valid RN license in Tennessee or a Compact State with proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
